Discovery Time

We have made a great start to 'Discovery Time' which we now get to do 3 times a week!

The Team Tui children have begun planning what they would like to do, with some already completing their activities and reflecting on how well they have done.

Today Astin and Keira worked together to make a chocolate cake to take home for their families. Yum!

Creating the garden for our Relaxing Area.

First we had to build the edging to create the shape for our garden and to hold all the soil.

The boys worked hard sawing and hammering!
Israel was an especially hard worker, he didn't want to stop!

In some areas we had to dig up the ground to make it level.

We had 2cm3 of garden mix delivered for our garden and 2cm3 of bark.

The gardeners all worked very hard to shovel the garden mix into wheelbarrows, take it to the garden, dump it and rake it out smooth.

Our garden is really taking shape now!

Next it was time to lay out the plants and get planting! Yay!

The gardening group did an amazing job of planting the plants.

Time to shovel the bark on!

The garden looks amazing!  Thank you Team Tui!!!!!!!!

Inquiry Trip

Team Tui students that are working on the garden and mural for our relaxing area made a trip to Mitre10 Mega.

They found out some of the answers to their questions and were informed about lots of great ideas for their projects.

Strand Maths - Creating trays to display our cookies.

To raise money for our relaxing area we are going to bake and sell biscuits at school.
We realised we would need display trays to display the biscuits.
Team Tui kids looked at various  cardboard boxes and pulled them apart to check out how they were made.  They then had a go at creating their own.

First they practised on scrap paper.

When they were happy with their design, the students in Team Tui chose some coloured card and made their final display tray.

Jett and Caleb decided they were going to make a special pouch to put their biscuits in.

The trays look amazing!
Team Tui are proud of their hard work!

Today was also Leah's birthday!
We finished our hard work by celebrating Leah's birthday with yummy cupcakes!
Thanks Leah!
Happy Birthday!!!
